A simple way to transform your living space

I’ve been really excited to share this with you. Through lockdown, I was posting pictures of my home on Instagram. Many of these were shot in my lounge and featured my Ikea sofas. After spotting them in some of my pics, the lovely people from Comfort Works got in touch and asked if I’d like to try their custom made slip covers for my sofas. I was delighted as I’d been thinking about changing the decor for a while. But buying new sofas is a big expense and, really, there’s nothing wrong with my sofas. I’m just a bit bored of them. And my eco-conscience won’t allow me to throw…

    A virtual fashion experience

One of the positive things to come out of this enforced worldwide lockdown has been the rise and rise of the virtual experience. Whether it’s Friday night Zoom drinks with friends or watching the world’s best DJs play live from their front room, courtesy of ‘virtual festivals’ from the likes of Defected Records, it’s been brilliant to see how the world has adapted to change.   Fashion, too, has pivoted to our new way of living. The traditional retail experience might be on hold, but some brands have moved quickly to ensure that their customers can still enjoy some of the best aspects of shopping.   Cabi is one fashion…

    White heat

Like so many of us, I spend a lot of time thinking about what I’ll wear when we’re out of lockdown. By then, I’m hoping we’ll be fully into the summer season. Ah, just thinking of it makes me feel better – blue skies, outdoor cocktail parties, roof terrace launch events and, of course, a collection of new outfits to take out for a test drive. With that in mind, I wanted to share a look that I’m looking forward to wearing once we’ve left lockdown limbo. White jeans are a favourite item for me – and they’re far more versatile than many people think. Granted, they can be temporarily…

    Look good, feel better

Remote working and spending most of your time in the house is, for many, an opportunity to substitute style for comfort, from ‘showing out’ clothes to ‘staying in’ clothes. Which is totally understandable. When times are stressful, you opt for wearing what makes you feel most relaxed.   But spending the whole day in a tracksuit isn’t for me. Nor is opting for a ‘day pyjamas’ and ‘night pyjamas’ mix. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not judging anyone who takes this sartorial route as you need to do what works for you – but I know that, for me, wearing stylish clothes while on lockdown keeps my spirits up.…

I’m now an ambassador for Cabi’s spring 2020 collection

I love this time of year in London. The weather may be challenging but the city is filled with some of the most stylish people you’ll ever see – and there are brilliant parties happening left, right and centre, all driven by London Fashion Week. I spent a few days checking out the shows and discovering some of the autumn/winter trends in store for us, from late 70s/early 80s throwback fashion to the resurgence of houndstooth – and the return of the cape (which were everywhere). More immediately important though, is what’s coming up for spring 2020. And I’m hugely excited to reveal that I’m working with the wonderful Cabi…

    A day with Damart

Travel, fashion and fun people. For me, that’s the holy trinity of being part of the Instagram world. And a recent photoshoot with Damart UK, modelling some of their SS19 collection, gave me the opportunity to enjoy all of those things over a fun-packed couple of days. The shoot was held in Yorkshire – one of the UK’s most beautiful regions – and it was a treat to head up there on the train and stay in a cute hotel overnight with the rest of the crew. The day delivered on the ‘fun people’ factor too, as I was modelling alongside the gorgeous ladies Beth Goodrham and Katie Terpsma.…

2018 Christmas gifts to suit all budgets

Okay, I’m allowing myself to get officially excited about the holiday season now. And that means thinking about some of the gifts I might get for family and friends and also (ahem) what I might like to see in my stocking on Christmas morning.   So I’ve had a lot of fun today pulling together the Stripeycoral Christmas edit – a selection of fashion, jewellery and other lovely items that will put a smile on the face of anyone who receives them. Some I already own, others are on my wish list, and together I’ve tried to find something to suit almost every stylish woman – and at prices…

    Dedicated follower of fashion

I’ve been dying to tell you about this – and finally I can. A while back, Bon Marche magazine contacted me as they’d been following my Insta and liked the look of the styles I was showcasing. They wanted me to appear in a four-page photoshoot and interview article, highlighting the brand’s Winter collection. This was tremendously exciting as it was my first photoshoot, plus a chance to share some of the style tips I’ve picked over my years working in the fashion industry.   I spent the day with the team selecting my favourite pieces from the new season collection and talking through the winter styles, as well as…

Style in the Land of Smiles

It’s been a while since I posted but, following a recent two week trip to Thailand – taking in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao (lots of islands, basically!) – I wanted to share some of the fabulous fashion items that I enjoyed wearing while there.   They call Thailand the ‘land of smiles’, as the people are so warm and friendly, and I found it to be a terrifically welcoming place.   It’s also terrific as a backdrop for fashion shots and I hope you enjoy some of the looks (and settings) that I’ve put together below. Keep in mind, too, that these aren’t just fashion items…

Cool watch alert – the joy of a Jord

It’s funny but, up until a few years ago, I wasn’t much of a watch person. Sure, I wore one but it was purely functional, rather than as a piece chosen for its looks and performance.   But then my husband starting working on a watch magazine. He’s always been a horophile (watch nerd, in other words) and as he started to come home with amazing watches he was testing, I began to appreciate them for the miniature marvels they were. Isn’t it refreshing, in this digital age we live in, that something mechanical – and beautiful – still has the power to surprise and delight   That’s where this…
